The Flyers unceremoniously fired John Stevens, their coach.
He guided the Flyers to the Eastern Conference Finals two seasons ago, and to the Playoffs last year, falling to the powerful New Jersey Devils in both seasons.
This year the Flyers again had a winning record. They were 13-11 with some ties.
Although they had a recent losing streak, this firing makes little sense.
Stevens is a proven winner over the past two seasons and a proven winning coach in the minors.
