Temple Beats Villanova for Biggest Win in Years

Temple Hoops just hasn't been the same since Hall of Fame coach John Chaney retired--until this past weekend that is, when they shocked #3 ranked Villanova, burying the undefeated Wildcats 75-65 under a hurricane of 3-balls, led by Juan Fernandez (see photo to left), who dropped 33 points on the unsuspecting Vanillanovans, who apparently forgot their rosaries and pre-game prayers on their way to the Liacouras Center/Temple of Apollo in North Philly.

This was by far the biggest hoops win in many years for Temple and augurs a big season for Fran Dunphy's team. Already this season they've held all of their opponents to 65 points or under, and they are playing excellent defense. The NCAA and an A-10 title are in sight. And of course a Big Five title, now that they've beaten that certain team on the Main Line that thinks they're better than everyone else.
