JRUE HOLIDAY-IVERSON BACKCOURT BUSTING OUT

Even though the Sixers dropped a close game to LeBron James and the Cavs 108-101 last nite, the emergence of Jrue Holiday alongside Allen Iverson in the backcourt the last two games has been nothing short of a revelation.

Against Golden State Monday nite in his first start alongside Iverson, Holiday had 15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, played 39 minutes, shot 7 for 14, and handed out 6 assists from the point guard position, allowing both AI and Iguodala to function as true shooters, getting them the ball. Iverson had 20 plus points.

Against Cleveland last nite, Holiday had 9 points on 3 for 9 shooting, two rebounds, 2 steals and handed out 9 assists. Iverson had 16 points despite being hurt and having an off shooting nite.

The bottom line is that Holiday is a true point guard, and together, Iverson and Holiday work well together. Lou Williams is not a true point guard, and should not play the point. Only Iverson and Holiday are point guards. But Holiday has speed and true point guard skills. He appears to be a young new Eric Snow.

The young players around Iverson appear to be playing hard and jelling around him--even though they've won only one game in the five they've played together, the team has played much better, and been much more involved. Iverson has been playing hard, and been a selfless player, passing the ball and spending time on the bench as necessary.
