Phils Bring Back Placido Polanco

The Phillies Have Brought Back Placido Polanco. He played for the Phillies 2002-2005.

Polanco won the Gold Glove in the AL at second base last year for the Tigers, and started for Jimmy Leylands Tigers all three years he was there. He also won the Gold Glove in 2007, and was MVP of the ALCS in 2007, helping the Tigers reach the World Series. In short, he was great.

Polanco will play third for the Phils, but you can bet he will also get some time at second to give Chase Utley rest against lefties.

"I always wanted to be here and never wanted to leave. My family's very happy" said Polanco at his press conference, echoing Allen Iverson's homecoming and words just a block or two away. Here's the video and the story. http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/landing_09?Homecoming-Phils-Bring-Back-Polanco=1&blockID=98434&feedID=693

This is a good move by the Phillies. His line is .303 BA, .348 OBA, .414 SA and .761 OPS, which are all better than Pedro Feliz, and he's better than Feliz in the field, has better speed than Feliz, and has better on base average with better power than Felize. It's an upgrade. The Phils can bat Victorino second against righties and Polanco second against lefties, or just give Utley or Howard a day off against lefties once in a while and let them both play and let a bench player play third. This is a good move.
